can you get a slug barrall for a remington 870 super mag? i got the one for watefowl, i was just wondering if i can get a slug barall or it doesnt have it?

Check Gander but I swear I saw one at the forest lake store tonight with a cantilever barrel and a scope for mid $200's, it was for 2-3/4 or 3" slugs. I don't think I have ever seen a 3-1/2" slug nor would I want to shoot one.

why not shoot a 3.5 chamber?

Id be willing to bet that youd prolly rip your shoulder apart or at least feel like you did

why not a 3.5" chamber?!! 1. if you like your shoulder.... you'll go with no larger than a 3"!! i got rid of my 12 ga. slug gun just cause the beating it gives!!LOL!! for one the 2 3/4" slug is plenty sufficient enough for deer! the 3" adds a bit more knock down power.. but why even go that big? if you've never shot a 3" slug, trust me... i dont care if it takes 1 shot! the target practice shoulder beating and not to mention the scope jarring effects!! you'll think twice! besides you'll get more range from a 2 3/4" slug at 100 yds!!

I wouldn't think there would be a difference between the express, wingmaster, magnum or super magnum when looking for differnt barrels. It's the chamber that is different on the guns.

I shoot a 870 super mag with a 3.5 chamber. I also spoke with a gunmith about a slug barrel for it and he stated any of the 870 barrels with fit another 870. I just put my other slug barrel on my 870 super mag. It work fine. As far as shooting 3" slugs. #1 as stated your shoulder will take a killing. #2 You loose accuracy if it is only a smooth bore. All you have to do is paper test it. I have not shot sabots in 3" as I do not see the need to beat myself up but on the 3" foster slug there is to much (if there is such a thing) power and the slug tumbles.

So u shoud be able to find a slug barrel in matted finish and put it on and go. (I do not think they even make 3.5" slugs for 12 guage)

Just for kicks I just took my 2 3/4" lead shot barrel off my 37 y.o. wingmaster and swapped with the 3 1/2" Super Mag barrel --- no problem! Even swapped the retaining caps and everything cycles perfectly. Just wish that Super Mag cycled as smooth as that old Wingmaster---- maybe three + more decades from now. 3 1/2" Kent Fasteel kills my shoulder and my brain almost as bad as my 10 guage did so I can't even imagine what a slug would feel like outta that thang!
