New to the Redwood Falls area just wondering if Wood Lake south of Granite Falls is decent for fishing? Walleyes, crappies, whats this lake have in it? I looked on the dnr's website in the lake finder area and it showed some info, but it's pretty outdated. I'm looking at finding some lakes close to redwood to fish this winter.

2007 is actually not that outdated for a lake survey. The numbers dont look bad for walleyes and crappies. I actually grew up out in that area kind of (Dawson), and went to college in Marshall, but never fished Wood Lake. If you are just after Walleyes, head to Cottonwood, not too far from Wood Lake. They are both shallow, but aerated in the winter.

A bad day of fishing is better than a good day of work.

Wood Lake has been pretty decent for walleyes. Spring and hopefully fall will be good. Last winter was not much fishing out there due to bad ice all winter. Worth checking out. Never have had luck on Cottonwood, but they have been stocking it so at some point it should come back.

Wood used to be good for eyes. It got fished out 2 years ago during ice season.

Bobbers down and bottoms up.

The daughter and I caught some eyes there this spring, early. Nothing to big but nice eater size. Hoping to get back over there in the coming weeks and try our luck again.
Caught them with crawler harness gold spinner 3ft leader 1/4oz bottom bouncer 3/4mph. We'd go back over there and try something else for kicks, nothing, try the spinner rig again and catch em. Don't know if that will work this fall or not, but thats what I'm starting with.

Back to minnows in the fall? Do not get to do much fall fishing and never on that lake. Usually to busy with work this time of year. Usually the water is hard by the time I get back out.
Just meant to say that's what worked earlier and it was going to be my starting point.
