Anyone ever hunt ducks on the Minnesota? I just moved to Redwood and would like to give it a try.

I hunted the MN around Mankato when I was going to school there. It was always much better for geese than ducks for soe reason. Also FYI, unless you have permission from the landowner, you can not pull up on the bank and hunt sandbars or beach your boat on shore so the only way to legally hunt it without getting permission is to float it.

The Minnesota river can be great duck hunting but The later the better in the season IMO also the sandbars are leagle to hunt because the DNR goes by the High water mark now if your up out of the banks thats a differnt story. I would lso check around and talk with the locals to find out who owns what and just talk with them.

I would contact the local DNR officer regarding this. I talked to the DNR officer around Mankato (Chris Howe) a few weeks ago regarding this issue and was told that as soon as your feet are not wet anymore, you are trepassing. The law surrounding trespass in/around rivers is very vague and you can interpret the law many ways so I would call and see how the officer that will show up when there is a disagreement interprets it the way you do. I don't want to hijack this thread, just stating what I was told by my local CO.
