Use your drag! Don't horse the fish in. As soon as you set the hook loosen the drag and let it tire out a bit...then buy some new line!

Why are you using 6# line for pike? Or is it if a pike it your line while while fishing walleyes?

The technique for bringing in a big fish on light line is the same regardless of species in MN lakes.

Use light drag so that when it runs, it does not break your line. Keep the pressure on the fish (no slack line) to make sure your hook doesn't dislodge from the fish's mouth.

With northern pikes' sharp teeth, you will have to worry about bite-offs.

The only way to protect against bite-offs is to use leader material that doesn't get cut easily. I usually use 8-12 inches of 20lb fluorocarbon as a leader material.
