Are buzzbaits the crack of bass fishing? The more you use them the more you want to keep using them. Was fishing this morning and I knew I should be using something else, but I had to have my fix.

I agree. Even when I'm not catching anything I keep throwing them in anticipation of a blow up.

They are addictive. I almost always have 1 rigged and ready for the right spot. As fun as it is to catch bass on them, it's way more exciting for a pike or muskie to slam them!

The buzzbait bite should be picking up soon.

They are a lot of fun and fish explode on them so fast as well. I find myself more addicted to frog fishing though and th eblow up and size that thos eproduce at time...hard to beat topwaters when they are hitting!

I can never seem to get a good topwater bite going. Do you guys mostly have luck with frogs fishing in the morning/evening or can you catch them in the slop all day?

I have the best luck fishing topwater frog type baits from mid June to early July. I fish them in the Lilly pads thru out the middle of the day. The thicker the pads the better. I think there are always some bass under the pads.

I have the best luck with buzz baits in the late evening.

I will agree with Nels on the frog bite then it seems to pick up again in late august. Sometimes it is a morning only kinda thing other times I have the best luck at mid day just gotta try it out.
Dont spend to much time on one spot if you dont get blow ups or swirls move on until you find what weed combos they are keying on for that day.
I do the best with buzzbaits early in the morning and the bite seems to die fast for me so I usually switch up by 9am or so...
Keep trying and you will get addicted!

Buzzbait fishing or topwater in general is very fun! I usually use single blades buzzbaits, but this year, I'm really loving those twin blades buzzbaits. I guess it depends on the lake if the topwater bite is on or off. I know a lake that the topwater bite is always on, throughout the season, from morning to sunset, its always biting topwaters.

After reading this thread I have been throwing buzzbaits more, and thats all I want to fish with. I do agree early and late in the day, or when its cloudy seem to work best for me.

I had a pike hit a buzz bait about 3 feet from the boat earlier this year, and almost needed a change of pants. I learned two things from this: one to pay attention all the way in, and that buzz baits are a blast.

toads make a great alternative to buzzbaits when the weeeds choke up on the buzzbait shaft.
