Was wondering what people use besides wd40 to lube up their ice shack poles. I don't want to use wd40 because it leaves a weird smell inside the shack the rest of the year. Thanks in advance.

Use "Blaster" TDL. Its a dry Teflon based lube. Watch the overspray, it dries in a blue color. Way better than any spray like Wd-40 that does not dry or powder. No Mess.
The best way to use Blaster TDL is to take your tent poles apart and spray it down the larger pipe (the one the smaller diameter pipe slides into) and let it dry for a few minutes before putting them back together.
Once a season will work great. Look for any burs or bent tubing when you have the poles apart.
Take your poles apart and clean all the burs off of the ends of the bars. Use a fine grade sand paper then steel wool and do the whole length of the inside poles. Make sure to wipe down with a clean rag. Then use a dry graphite or some of the other stuff. I dont like WD40 for this purpose. How old is your house?

I have been using silicone spray with good results.
