A bunch of us are going to be hitting Lake Mary at the end of Feb. (25th-28th) and I just thought I'd get some general info on the lake. We were up last year and couldn't access the main lake due to the snow so I'm wondering if travel on the main body is possible, ice thickness and any other info anyone wants to pass on. We stayed just north of Little Mary, and while we never made the main lake we caught enough panfish to please the guys enough to come back. I'm sure though that they would like to try for some walleyes/pike.

Any info is greatly appreciated...

I've never ice-fished there but in the summer I have had luck for eyes and pike in Little Mary and just to the east ,there is a rock bar/drop-off. Alot of people fish on the east side of that with good luck on walleyes. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the info. Yes, the rock bar structure is something I had hoped to access last year and give a go, and will be a spot I suggest if we can get out there this year.

Did well about 3 weeks ago up there on the crappies, was a couple days ago we gave it another shot and could only catch a half dozen 5" gills.

post how you did on lake mary on opener

had to work the weekend and heading up on sunday after work 4 the week was hoping to hear some good news about the opener to get me excited about getting up there!! will post throughout the week to let people know how im doing!!!

Was out there Saturday night, there had to be 50 boats just in our area, we caught 2 keepers, saw only a half a dozen fish caught, too slow for that many boats. Saw fish caught in 13-15 feet and 19-21. That being said, being that I have not been able to to fish the opener for the last 13 years, it was a great night on the lake.

i just got up here and am heading out.. yes it will be a nice week maybe to nice!!! but am going to be fishing at night also as i have heard the fish are biting!!

I fished Mary... Caught a few walleyes, pike, and perch. The walleyes seemed to be mixed in with the perch. Fished by the 50 boats the first day and saw some people catch a few eyes in about 14 FOW. As the water warmed up the little pike began to bite. I was surprised that I didn't run in to a crappie or two... The best luck I had was when the boats cleared out on the south east side we hit a few more fish. Playing bumper boats was no fun!

Well with all this hot weather lately has anyone been out? My brother has a place near by and he fishes quite often but not as of late.

Was out there on Friday night and got one cast in before the lightning and rain came! Otherwise I didn't fish at all just enjoyed the nice weather!! Plenty of jet ski's and boaters out there!

Any luck on Mary recently? Any tips or tricks? We are heading up for a week this weekend.

fish have been just hopping on mary even on the hottest days during the days ..i really dont know what has turned the walleyes on but i have caught walleyes every way the last 3 weeks 90degrees middles of afternoon no wind and some of the best walleye fishing ive had in 10 years...spinners leeches or crawlers and i have caught alot of fish running cranks anywhere from 6ft-12ft of water..yes shallow on a 90degree day

Has anyone been out on Little Mary Lake to see what the ice conditions are? Also how is the lake for clarity this year? Thanks.

Little Mary is good on the ice and we have 6-8 inches out there. The water clarity is OK and needs a little time to settle. What are you going after?

was wondering how the bite has been on mary and ice conditions. have been fishing reno and its time to go try another lake. have never fished mary in the winter so just wondering if its worth a try
