How long does it take a 12 inch walleye to grow up to a 15 incher?

A local lake has lots of 11-12 inch walleyes, I'm getting tired of catching them and plan on moving to a different lake, but was wondering when these fish would 'grow up'. Yes I know there are lots of variables, food supply, weather, type of lake but on the average when will these 12 inchers grow to 15 inchers? Next winter? Two years from now?

Infisherman put out a chart a few years back.. The average 12" walleye in MN is going to be 3 years old.. Many factors of coarse, but if we are talking average.. the avearage 4 year old Walleye will be 14-15.. so maybe next year if people do not harvest your 12" fish..

For those interested..
5year old 16+"
6year old 18+
7year old 20+

Again, many factors.. and the information is from In-Fish. And the information was for MN.. The same article gave the same information for S.D walleye which were larger for the same age.

Set the hook once for me.

It can vary a lot depending on lake fertility among other things. In September of 2005, I caught a 24" walleye that was tagged on Big Sand Lake near Park Rapids. I sent the tag number in to the DNR and got a letter back. They told me the walleye was tagged on April 26th of 1991 and was 16.7 inches long. That is 7+ inches growth in 14 years.

A friend of mine has a trophy wife...I guess it wasn't first place.

They seem to grow from story to story. Lots of guys catch 12"ers but by the time the story is over they have grown to 15"
