Fish house blueprints...

My son Lucas likes to fish but not so much in the winter because of the cold, so I want to build a permenant fish house for next ice season. This will keep the little guy warm while fishing.

I want to do it over the year so I don't bust the bank, just aquire materials little by little. Something like an 8X10 or a little smaller, thing is, I don't have a clue on how to go about it.

Does anybody know where I can get a blueprint or online instructioons for a fish house around this size?

There are several perms on this site that people have taken pictures of during the building process, if i were you, i would take out a couple of pieces of paper and start drawing the house you want. Start with floor setup, holes etc. Think about what you want to go into your ice house, and start drawing those items in.

Best house is a free one, or one that you designed specifically for you or your son lucas.

Good luck.

Throw up a post over in the home improvement board. There are lots of handy guys in here that could help get you started. There is probably someone in your area who may even help you with it if you are willing to throw in a hot lunch and a couple of beers. The biggest thing is getting the floor put together for strength and getting the walls straight. After that it goes pretty quick. If you can use a screw gun and a skil saw you can build your own fish house.

If you want an actual "blueprint", Lowes, Menards or Home Depot should have storage shed plans. You may want to substitute in some slightly ligher materials to make it easier to move on and off the lake.

I have just enough wood working knowledge to be dangerous and built both a permanent fish house and a storage shed this year, both of which turned out to be pretty presentable IMO. The fit and finish is not what would come from a professional but as one of my friends says "we ain't building watches".

Good luck,

Steve

So many lakes, so little time.

I have an OLD clam portable fishouse given to me by mt grandfather. It is a 2 person set up with a accordion style folding top. it would be extremely easy to recreate with some simple lumber and aluminum conduit.. Of course unless your far better than me at sewing youll probably need someone to help with the actual cover as well. This would be a cheap and easy way to get you and your son started that way you can gauge his interest/enthusiasm about being on the ice before you go the distance with the perm. if youd like id be happy to send you plans and pics of what i have

Thanks for the replies. I think I am going to throw out trying to find a blueprint and plan my own house. There was some good fundamentals on building a shanty on ask.com so that should be enough to get me started in the right direction.

CALVINIST

I drew up a set of blue prints at work this summer when i was going to put a perm on low but i decided to make a wheel house insted and i could send you the prints i made up for it. It is a 10x18 or 20 i know thats bigger than what you wanted to build but you could take a look at it and get some ideas maybe or just cut it in half. I modeled it after the one we have built on mille lacs.

If you want them you will have to download a solidworks viewer it's free and from their website

Just shoot me an e-mail if you want them kubie11x@hotmail.com
