there are ducks. I haven't seen to many geese in this area, but there are lots in the general area.

Ok, saw about 10 ducks S of FF this morning and 2 flocks of geese.
This evening N of FF bagged one goose, saw 4 others. No shots at ducks, saw a couple of flocks of woodies.

It was real slow this morning. Did see some mallards/puddlers, so I am backing off the big water and trying some more sheltered water in the morning.

Nice south wind helped today. Got some buffleheads and a woodie. LOTS of mergansers in the area too.

Not enough for me to see, or even consider hunting them. Thank goodness, cause I still want to chase deer.

I have been sitting next to a lake the last three nights hunting deer, and the last two mornings as well - Not much for birds at all, ducks or geese

There are definitely some major groups of geese in the area. However, getting on the land is another issue.

Was deer hunting up there this past weekend (deer hunting was great, we hunted from Thursday and were finished for 10 guys by Saturday morning) and saw tons of hooded mergansers show up on Lake Christina, but no real influx of ducks. Only a few scattered mallards and cans out with the woodpeckers... Lots of geese around.
I won't be back up to your area until May. Good luck for any duckin' guys still getting out.

southwest....
Why do you feel the need to allow internet scouters to pound the water by my dad's cabin on Star??? Let the true hunters profit from their scouting instead of inspiring a bunch of deadbeats to hunt water they didn't discover...
Perhaps: "I saw some on a ricey spot in Northern Ottertail County is enough of a clue."
Plus they ringnecks pretty much passed through quickly like usual lately.

Sorry i gave your spot away. Its a pretty big water to hunt and sometimes you need a few hunters to keep the birds moving. I didnt know Star was a secret location. I have a place on it but havent had the time to hunt it but have want to.
