So who was the ****** who left those 2 bucks in the ditch? Antlers gone, hide gone, back straps gone, carcuses and a pile of legs left half on the road and half in the weeds with no tags north of Hutch? I called the TIP hotline. I don't know what can be done about it, probably nothing but I called anyway. Who ever it was, saved their tags so they could shoot a couple more. We found them sunday evening the 15th.

Every hair in his beard, has a story to tell.

I am fairly certain you will not get an answer on this website. But I hear your concern. If you look closer at the deer in the ditch towards the end of winter, you will see alot more of these.

Probably the same guys who had two treestands on my uncles property without permission. He lives north of hutch on Lake Byron. You probably didnt look too close but were they shot with a gun or bow?

We don't deer hunt so I have no idea how they were killed or where but they were dumped near Hiway 22 west of Cedar.

They might not be poachers. Who knows?? Could be someone that just dumped the carcasses in the ditch. That happens way to often. I saw a couple at a local boat landing last friday like that. If they were dumping carcasses they would take their tags off so they would not get caught for littering. Either way it is disgusting and illegal. Just saying they might not be poached.

Well said.

Let's not make assumptions and send people to the electric chair without knowing the entire story.

Faner did the right thing by reporting this using the TIPS line and letting the authorities handle it.

It'll catch up to them sooner or later, whether it was taking deer illegally or improper disposal of the carcasses.

Yup kinda sounds like dumped carcasses to me. Faner - were the legs cut off and just the elbows to hooves dumped(quarted and deboned)? Or were they attached to the deer. Why would you take the hide off if you were only going to take the backstraps. Still not good and too close to home!

Everything else aside, if you just took the antlers, backstraps, and hide would that not qualify as wanton waste?

yes I would think it would - just can't figure out why "a person" would go through the work to take the hide if they were not going to quarter it and take the meat.

I'm not condoning anything - just thinking out load.

to say that someone who dumps untagged/unbutchered deer ISN'T a poacher is just stupid.

What constitutes legal then? if you where orange and carry a weapon then your a hunter? If you waste meat, and don't tag them, you're poaching...

If the antlers are gone then where would the tag be?

Whatever the case may be, the carcasses shouldn't have been dumped as they were. Poached or non-poached, this isn't the proper way to dispose of them and although we can assume the deer was poached, there is no way to know for sure.

Surely not the correct way to dispose of a carcass. They may have been very shot up deer and the hunters took what they could or wanted too.

To say the least, that is a waste and if meat was left, then wanton waste would come into play.

Sounds to me like a guy clean what he wanted and dumped the rest for the coyotes.

Not right either way.

I notice deer carcass's in the ditch all the time during hunting season.

You calling me stupid. How do you know it wasn't tagged and then the tag was removed before the carcasses were dumped. That is all I was saying. I am not saying it is right to dump carcasses. Just saying do not jump to conclusions. Alot of people on here see something and assume the worst. Unless you have the whole story keep an open mind. On the way back from duck hunting the other day I saw a dead hen pheasant on the road. Should I assume someone shot a hen pheasant then threw it on the road because they didn't want to get caught. No, I think it probably got hit by a car.

I think enough has been said about this and there is no need to get personal in discussing this topic. If there are any updates to this please do post them.

Thanks.
