Joel, Check out Skeeters new FX - It was designed for the new Yammie motor and is a beautiful boat.Honestly, any boat with that motor on it is going to be outstanding.

How do you feel about the quality of the Skeeter compared to the Bass Cat and Ranger?
I was fishing two years ago on Gull with Jim Picha from Bemidji who owns a Skeeter and I was not impressed. He said every compartment in the boat leaked so hopefully they have improved the quality of their boats. Some of you guys may know Jim who has fished tournaments for many years and a really great guy!

Also, I fish some pretty large lakes in central and northern MN and want a boat that will handle rough conditions and one that is a big stable platorm. That's why I have had Ranger's in the past.
Any thoughts/experience in this area would be appreciated.

I owned a ranger 518vx and now a skeeter ZX250. I think the Ranger had a better fit and finish than the skeeter, but they both fish well. The skeeter I have handles rough water just fine.

Skeeter makes a very good boat. As does Ranger, and agree with TB that the Fit and Finish on the ranger will be slightly better. Jcon, if you ever want to look at a Cat, feel free to swing down my way or wait for me to come up to the Nerd.

Deitz, thanks for the note. I have not seen a cat so I very well may take you up on the offer. Will let you know the next time I am down that way.
Best, Joel

Joel, Take a look at triton as well. A question for you - does Nisswa marine still sell Tritons?

No..... They are now a Ranger dealer.. They dropped Triton last year when they acquired the Ranger line.

It seems like the only dealer in Minnesota carrying Triton now is Crystal Pierz Marine.

Crystal Pierz is the only one. I wish someone else would pick them up!

Actually a few of my friends have ordered directly from the factory and saved a ton of money. You do have to drive down to Kentucky and pick it up but they say the savings are worth it. It also appears the Crystal Pierz is carrying Walleye boats only according to their inventory.

I bought my bassboat there in late August. I got an awesome deal. I think they still have a few bass boats that they are clearancing out. If you go to there website and check special offers - bankruptcy sale - view current listings, there are a few on there. The financial agency that they used to finance these boats is going bankrupt or something. I ended up bidding on the boat through the financial agency. Sort of a strange deal but it worked out really good. There list shows 2 - 2008 20x2, 1 - 19x2, 3 - 18x2.
