I want to try and sharpen my own so I can have them shape when needed and don't have to wait for them to come back. How too? Any body confused

GM sells a sharpener hanging by the replacement blades, package has G Roach's pic on it. I think it was about 8 bucks or so.

I read on the Strikemaster website that "Lazer" blades cannot and should not be re-sharpened.

I have had mine exchanged at local bait shops and they seem to work as good as new.

I wonder if they put it on there site just to sell more new blades every year?
Anyone have bad luck with re-sharpened blades?

The Nils has to have the blades sharpened as it a shaver type blade. When I had my Jiffy with the chipper blade, I would run a file over the edge after every few times out and the blades lasted for years.

Just a little maintenance will keep those babies cuttin.

I would find it hard to believe if they would tell others how to sharpen the blades.

I guess that would create a shortage of work.

I'm not sure but the sharpener I got I believe was purchased from strikemaster themselve's in Big Lake. It's made to sharpen there Lazer Blades. All I know over the years it's saved me hundreds so I could buy other stuff for Ice Fishing. Rick from Rockford...

It is fairly reasonable to send them into strike master and they dont sharpen your blades they send you brand new ones and melt down the old ones. BE VERY CAREFUL about bait shop exchanges and check the blades before you buy. I traded mine in last year and it bent my auger shaft because they were sharpened wrong then I had to make a nice trip to big lake to fix the problem. The guy at strike master told me most bait shop guys do it wrong and if the blades have any marks or scratches from the sharpening that they are no good.
From having to go through this ordeal I would say just mail them in and get some new blades back for $20 still got some time before ice anyways!

Thanks all. I might try Strikemaster since that's what it is. I looked at GM and it was $30 for a new set. Did I hear SM will do tune-ups on their units as well?

Anywhere in the Brainerd area that you can get the Nils blades sharpened?? I know you can send them to Surface Tension up in Duluth but I'd really like to get it done without having to send it through the mail.

Go to Northwood Turf & Power. At the service desk, they had a sign that said "we sharpen auger blades". It's located behind the Home Depot off of 210
