How did everyone do on deer opener? I wasn't able to get all day in today, but sat out until early afternoon. Saw one fawn but can't take antlerless. Too much corn still up to really get the deer moving!

I'm lost... I'm going to go find myself.
If I should get back before I return, please ask me to wait.

Not much movement in my area - 7 more days yet!

Caught in the jaws of life, I found myself, chewed up like everyone else. Made no difference who I was, or what I thought, I still got caught in the jaws of life.

I hunted ducks... and only got 4... couple guys at my buddies farm hunted, and got one small buck and saw some others, small buck and some fawns does.

I start my real deer hunting this Thursday... my wife thought this past weekend WAS my deer hunting weekend, and now not too pleased with me... heh... I have been doing this for 4 years now, duck hunting on deer opener and then deer hunting following. Oh well...

hopefully they start moving.

Saw some deer, but it was slow. Didn't get the right opportunity yet.

There's still plenty of time and hopefully some corn gets harvested!

Taking today off - getting some chores done. It's so nice I'd probably fall asleep in the stand anyway. Gonna get back at it tomorrow.

ok success for us. couple deer shot, couple little bucks passed.

can we make it state law to have a vikings bye week during every deer opener?

Opening day me and my friend hunted the 90A I bought this summer. He shot an decent 8 point buck in the am on sat. He then shot a doe in the afternoon. He had to pass on Old Rake Head that was chasing the doe. Bummer for him, but that's the way it goes when you burn your buck tag on the first buck you see. I passed on a six pointer Saturday. Sunday the light rain was a pain. We didn't see any deer moving. Duck hunted near Alexandria Monday and got 4 mallards then drove home.
I have the whole week off to hunt Old Rake Head. I'll probably be hunting alone so it may be a pain in the butt if I have to do a long drag, but I'll cross that bridge when I get there.

My brother shot this nice buck opening morning at about 7:00am near Battle Lake... I didn't see much, just a few does, but my cousin also got a nice 8 pointer... Maybe better luck this weekend!

That's a nice buck your group got, Tonka. I am holding out for a big one like that this year so I passed on a couple of 2.5 year olds. One was a 9 and one was an 8. Saw a couple forks and a handful of does over the weekend.

Hoping to see the big guy this weekend.

ChuckN, did you see as many coyotes this year as last year? My younger daughter sat in the stand with me carrying a smaller rifle incase we saw one but no such luck. My older daughter saw a pair of does and a fox from her stand but didn't shoot at anything.

Jerky, I bet your cousin is really glad you are such a poor shot! I'd rather see her hold that deer anyways... lol

Nice pic of Little J. He's hooked.. grin

CC: No coyotes this year, but an influx of feral cats. Coyotes have been taken down, and the cats moved in? confused
