All beautiful fish. Nice variety. I notice you fly fish and bait fish. Spin fish too? What were the carp caught on again? You are the guy that got that sweet mirror carp too, right? Are mirror carp scattered all over V or hot spots? When you see snapping turtles that is a sign of warm water. I see them all the time, yet generally non-designated ares. Did see one on the V on the new easement section off Donnley Bridge, same area TU and MN DNR just did habitat improvement.
Keep up the good work!
Shut up and fish.

thanks for the support scudly!
whenever i spin fish i am usually targeting carp or pike. for trout, 9 times out of 10 i will fly fish. For carp, i just use a nightcrawler and let it sit on the bottom. My mirror carp actually came from the cannon river, not the vermillion. But i would assume that mirrors are in the vermillion just not as much. Most of the snapping turtles i see are in "rambleing river" park.

Roughfish 29, I guess it doesn't surprise me that the pike would taste like mud. I'm not a big fan of eating fish from rivers. Much rather eat a walleye from a lake up by Ely.
Some day I'm going to try fishing for carp with a flyrod. I think my 5 weight might be a little light for carp.

Ever tried carp po' boy with extra chuckle?
Your fly fishing spot looks like rambling river park, just upstream of the bridge, first corner bend? Nice looking rainbow. Appears to be pond raise as tail fin is in great shape.
BTW I caught two giant snappers this year. One with a worm, one on a chub tail.
Shut up and fish.

Your fly fishing spot looks like rambling river park, just upstream of the bridge, first corner bend? Yep, there is always something in that pool. Last fall i saw a (roughly)thirty inch brown trout pass through that pool.....my heart almost stopped I think my 5 weight might be a little light for carp. i'm not an expert on flyfishing for carp. But i assume that a 5 weight would be good for anything up to 6 pounds. Good luck! I'm still looking for my first carp on the fly

Ever tried carp po' boy with extra chuckle? Reference from 30 Rock last night. Liz Lemon gets violently sick eating a carp po' boy sandwich. Some people love to smoke carp. Also imagine sucker would taste good too. Buddy in southwestern WI who managed southwestern WI for 30 odd years told me when they electroshock, suckers were taken out of trout streams and locals loved to pickle them. I've never tried. OK suckers are a resilient fish. They live in warm crappy water and they live in ice cold Rush River. Imagine the Rush River suckers could not taste much different than a trout. Maybe I should just eat one for the hell of it. Why am I so squeamish over looks? Starting out I was a fly fishing catch and release only guy and the thought of eating a trout made me sick to my stomach. I though trout were too beautiful to eat. People change. Some swear some trout taste like "mud" based on the stream. I have yet to come to the same conclusion. Once I decided to keep a few for the table, I fell in love with the flavor. Every trout I've ever eaten since was delicious. Big deal this summer was smoked trout. Oh my. People loved smoked fish, especially smoked trout. The other day I took two smoked brook trout, flaked them, added 1/3 cup mayo, 1/3 cup sour cream, and garlic, onion, salt, and pepper spices and it was fantastic. Imagine cream cheese sour cream mix versus mayo would be good. Trout is like tuna -- it flakes really nice. Anyway, sorry for the sidetrack. On with the thread -- random trout (or any fish you are passionate about) photos.... Cosmic brookie - Blue Heron Creek Rush River Brown Chub Tail Creek

Got this big old brown to bite on a home made dry fly a couple years ago. My PB best to date!
Three-fourths of the Earth's surface is water, and one-fourth is land. It is quite clear that the good Lord intended us to spend triple the amount of time fishing as taking care of the lawn.
