It was tough hunting with the warm weather and all the corn up. I knew I had to hunt the edge of a corn field. And to draw them out of it would be tough. I decided to hang a bunch of doe in heat scent bombs on the east edge(length of fence line) of the corn field. The south east winds saturated the cornfield. I removed the scent bombs at quiting time(no nookie after dark for the bucks). On wednesday night at 5pm a fork buck poked his head out of the corn and went right to a scent bomb can. I took'm. I'm thinking my method works. I only saw one other deer out of range on opening day. It was a tough hunt, but I was successful.
Your welcome leechbait. Now that the rifle season is over, I thought I'd give my report. I'm curious how others have done. Different stratagies, or just being lucky. I'll be watching for more reports.

I usually stay out of the woods during rifles season, I'll be bow hunting until I can't stand the cold anymore. We've been having some beautiful cooperative weather, and their are deer in rut mode around here still!! I sat out yesterday from 12:30 until dark, but I didn't see anything until it was darn near dark. Not enough light to take the shot! Next time.

Rifle was good to me two bucks so can't complain. One was morning one was last light on same spot. Neither were really rutting so who knows. See what else is in the woods now.

I also had pretty good luck. Shot 2 nice bucks opening weekend and a doe mid-week. Party Hunting. We for sure saw more deer this year as compared to last year. Check out my "Cool Find" in the Deer Section for a cool story.

Missed my first Minnesota deer season in the last 27 years. I was to busy trying to harvest crops, but I did go with friends to Montana and go an over the counter doe tag. Saw tons of big bucks and had a great time. I will definately be adding a yearly trip to montana to my hunting weekends in the future. After we shot our deer had a great day on prairie dogs. A friend of mine lets a rancher use his place on LOW for a week and in return we get a nice big private ranch to hunt and sleep in the ranch house.
