I've been playing around with the Orton Effect looking for a different look for some landscape shots. Comments are more then welcome.

for a puz like me.. what exactly is the "orton" effect?

I like the pict.. it looks a tad blurry? Maybe thats the effect?

Set the hook once for me.

Its a way to add an arty affect to photos. Its been around for a long time. Back in the good old days you would shot two slides one sharp the other a little out o focus and sandwich them together to get the affect. This my first attempt at doing it digitally and I'm dicovering the amount of blur applied is critical. I think I went a little overboard on this one.

Not my cup of tea. But then, I'm not an artsy sort of person. smile

I've always liked the painterly look of the Orton method. You've done a darn good job on this one, YH.

I like the lighting and the effect and the subject matter seems right for the approach. I'd love to see the image at a bigger size, say 850 on the long side.

Thank for all the kind words. If you would like to learn how to create Orton images, there is a free tutorial for Phtotshop and ELements at the link below. Or just google Orton effect.

I didn't know what the Orton effect was, but it sounds like that is what I used on the "Fly Fisherman" photo thread. One of the great things about PS is there are many ways to do similar things.

Thanks for the link.

I really like this shot/effect. Thanks for posting the link - I've been trying it on some of my flower shots and it's pretty cool, that blur step takes some practice though crazy

Something "new" for this old brain to assimilate grin
