Flu and the opener!

I don't post too many things, but I read FM every single day and I really enjoy the forum.
I had to post this to vent my frustration.
I have been looking forward to this Saturday for months now. I bowhunt, but this year my work has cramped my opportunities for my son (age 12) and I to get out. I know that this coming weekend allows us to get 'away' from everything and enjoy the outside. Shooting a deer is secondary to me, I love watching my son light up when he hears crunching or a shot in the distance. So far, both of us have avoided the flu and/or a cold...until now! Wouldn't you know it, two days before we leave and I am starting to feel cruddy! Frustrating to say the least!
I just wanted to say good luck to all this weekend and stay safe!

PBW - Thanks. I will take your advice and treat accordingly! Hopefully it is a cold and not the flu.
Take care.

Picks advice is spot on. As soon as you start feeling crummy, hammer it with nyquil, get the cold & flu, just to be safe. better today than Friday night. In two days, you might start to feel much better.

That stinks. I have been worried about that for the past month. I have been washing my hands all the time and taking some tylenol just in case.
I think I have drank a gallon of orance juice in the past week foe some extra vitiman C and also have been taking daily vitimans.
So far so good.

I'm in the same boat. I work with a lot of different people in a lot of different offices so its usually just a matter of time for me to catch something. Of course this has to be the week that something sets in. I feel like I'm on the downhill side of it and whats left is nothing that a some ibuprophen and alka seltzer can't help.

Believe me, if I could do that, I would. We have had plans since July to visit relatives in Fargo next weekend.
It would take quite a bit to get me to stay home. Besides, my son has been mastering his "Buck Collector" call for a couple weeks now. I seem to remember those days when I was 12 pretty vividly! I can't take that away from him!

Hopefully it is not the flu and just one of the many things going around right now that make you feel like rotton but don't knock you down. Alka seltzer really in a great product!

Yeah, I know what you mean. Looking forward to opening day and hoping to avoid the flu. My youngest son had it last week and my oldest son had it over the weekend. Now it's my turn. Started feeling it come on last night and woke up with congestion and fever this morning. I'm betting (hoping) that by Saturday morning the worst will be over. It may take some serious drugs, but I plan to be in my stand while the stars are still shining!

This is kind of a strange post, but I had a battle with the bug and missed 3 weekends of bowhunting I thought I had the Flu but ended up with Lymes. Let me make a suggestion, if you spend any time in the woods read the symptoms of Lymes, I knew something was wrong with me in August but you know how we guys are. Never went to the Doc, I was very lucky to have a great doc when I finally gave in. On another note, I have had great luck with Zicam, as soon as I feel the crude.. hit it hard with zicam and do about 4000mg per day of vit C. Good luck to those fighting the fight, get your sleep!

Hope ya feel better b/f sat. monk! Sounds like you have a special tradition going with your son every year, and would hate to see someone like yourself miss any of those experiences.
I just got a cold and fever TODAY! Already got my prescription(sp?). If it is the flu you want to get on antibiotics within 48 hrs. of first symptoms...

I seem to get sick every year around this time (luckily it has just been bad colds) last weekend if I wasnt in the stand i was sleeping to kick whatever I had. Get lots of sleep when you can, and bundle up when you do. sleep with your winter hat, sweats and hoodie. All the meds too! you got plenty of time to kick its butt before it kicks yours!!! and maybe opening morning you won't be able to make it out, but usually the evenings you can tough it out for a few hours. good health to all!
If it ain't about hunting or fishing, I don't want to hear about it.

I am in the process of taking everyone's advice, Alka Seltzer Cold, Cold Eeze (Zinc), Vitamin C. It's better this morning, so maybe Saturday will be good.
Thanks for all the advice and good luck Saturday!
