I have a couple of Thorne Brothers custom rods Walleye Sweet Heart Plus Ice Rod, and a perch Sweet Heart Plus Ice Rod. Both have Sedona 500 Spinning Reels on them. They are both great rods, and I have never used or seen their equal.

Another vote for the Jason Mitchell combos. Thorne Bros rods are nice, but for your budget, you would get a lot more bang for your buck with the JM combos. Another possible option would be to purchase the JM rod and pair it with a Abu Garcia Cardinal 100U reel for a lower priced, yet solid rod/reel set up.

Ditto on the Mitchell rods. They will fit ones budget very well.

I saw the $150 budget, but missed he wanted to buy four rod combos for the $150. Sorry had I noticed that I wouldn't have suggested the Thorne rods.

Mitchell puts out good rods, I would imagine the reel would have some quality to it as well. I don't think he'd put out a junk reel with his nice rods. For line, Gamma ESP Ice Copoly is by far the best line I have used to date. I even buy extra and use it for open water as well. I would get one Meat stick, which can be used for walleye and panfish, the other 3 are up to you as it really depends on what you target most.

Frabill also makes some nice rods. There quick tips are great for crappies and gills. But you should always choose something that feels good to you.

I bought four Wristsaver combos last year at the ice show and love them! I think they were around 30 bucks per combo.
