Thanks NWBuck. All but one were first year birds.
I think we got lucky as I found out more info. A tiny bit of corn had been picked nearby and some guys got to that field in the early AM to hunt Geese. I think they pushed some of those roosters back into the grass as they tromped in the corn in the early AM before Pheasant shooting hours. Otherwise I have no idea why so many birds were in the grass with all of that corn around.
Sometimes it pays to be lucky and hit a spot at the exact right moment
