One night on clearwater about a month ago i was fishing inbetween the lakes and we could have netted thousand of black tip shinners , they were everywhere, i wonder if there was a huge hatch and the walleyes are still feeding like crazy. Just a thought
Those shiners are always there, and in the numbers that you saw. They spawn mid to late May and stay schooled up pretty tight for a while afterwards. The trick is to catch them and use them for bait. They are tough to keep alive, but they will out fish all other baits when you can get them.
fished clearwater all day yesterday we got 2 eyes 5 slimmers, and around 10-15 bass, at least we caught something we went out for eyes but the rest of the fish made it fun
