Heading out tonight after work. Has anyone been out there lately and are there any areas on the lake that are hotter than others?

Minners,

Great lake for sunfish and some northerns. There is all kinds of cabbage and different structure for bass as well. You should have a great time. Can't give you much help with locations for I have only been out there a couple of times and I am still learning the lake myself. Good luck.

Minners,

Thanks for the reply. Caught a handful of nice sunnies and a few northern just like you said. The bass were hitting on a texas rigs right over "you guessed it" the cabbage. Let me know when you want to head out again. Not much traffic out on the lake. Thanks for the heads up on the action.

I'd have chimed in but haven't fished upper this season and not a regular visit for me in general.

Folks have been pretty tight lipped about the bite. My dad called last night looking for some info on the area bite and other than lakes I'be been fishing there hasn't been a lot of discussion. So not a lot to share. I've been out of town for a few weeks but should get back at it after the holiday. Should be a be able to get a few reports posted after some time on the water locally.

A bad day of fishing? I honestly don't know what you're talking about.

That is hilarious, but sorry I know what you mean. It is frustrating. I haven't checked this thread lately, been mostly fishing in Wright and Morrison counties.

I fished Upper Spunk on Monday and caught a few small bass fishing the weedline all the way down the Western shore. Got a few good hits on the southeast corner just off the lily pad beds in about 9-11 feet of water, a lot of fish showed on the finder. They were not feeding aggressively all day and it seemed you had to get the bait right under their nose. I was using swim baits, scum frogs, and spinners most of the day. There are definitely some good fish in there and I will head back to try again.

I caught a muskie in upper spunk 2 summers ago, off the sunken grassy islands. Yes, a muskie. didnt even know they were in there. Was 37" if i remember right, snapped a few photos and put her back. thats my spunktacular experience.

Thanks for the welcome Borch.

Well I haven't been back to Upper Spunk yet, but a friend of mine went last Thursday and didn't have much luck with bass or northern, but he and a friend did hit their limit with sunnies.

Went out last night for about an hour-and-a-half just to make sure that the repairs I made to the motor actually fixed the problem. It did. I can now "scoot" across the lake at a paltry 19 mph. Not too bad for a 14 ft w/ a 15 hp Farce. I dropped a line for a while on the southwest corner and managed a small bass. Then went out to the grassy island and waxed a 4 lb. eye. She was really dark in color. I let her go to boost the population in the lake. Water temp was 74 degrees.

Minners do you fish any other lakes in that area? I am heading out to two rivers this weekend and was wondering if any one has been catching eyes?
