Any reports on the fishing on Shamineau or Alexander. It's going to be a great week to get out.

Hows the lakes looking up there? Is snowmobile still an option on the lakes, or is all the snow gone, im guessing most of it is with this really warm spell.

all the snow is gone and alot of water on the ice, but the fish are biting if you want to stand in 2 - 6 inches of water.

Snow is gone, and there was lots of water on the ice Sunday evening, but by Monday morning it looked to have all drained. We were still driving Sunday night, but it may be a bit risky for this coming weekend.

OK, the ice has to be separating from shore and "candled" by now out there on Alex, right?!

Quite a few trucks drove on Shamineau last weekend and there was still 36" of ice everywhere. I would imagine that after the rain the area is probably not safe for driving anymore, but walking/atv's should still be "ok".

What are the odds of a guy safely sitting on a bucket on Alex this weekend?! I haven't been up since Feb.

1:2 33.3% chance of being safe.

I was on Shamineau last weekend and there was 24-30" of solid ice everywhere I drilled. Only about the first 20' or so were slushy, but no problems at all. Should be ok for awhile.

Boy, I wouldn't be telling someone no problems at all this time of year? It depends on what side of the lake you are fishing because the sun hits certain areas more than others. Were you fishing the southeast or the northwest end of sham? Makes a huge difference.

1:2 33.3% chance of being safe. 1 in 3 chance? I like them odds! Does it make a difference if I was planning to drive my dumptruck and parking next to my bucket?! Looks like the forecast for the Lincoln Lakes area should be nice this week. I guess I'll just have to walk out the back door of the cabin and see if my boots get wet!

1:2 33.3% chance of being safe. How do you get 1:2 with a 33.3 percent chance??? Is my math wrong or does that not make any sense??

It's a ratio. 1 to 2 in ratio terms is also the same as 1 out of 3 in fraction terms. Technically "odds" are given in the form of a ratio. Like when given odds in Vegas, haven't you ever heard of someone saying I'll give you 2 to 1 odds. In other words 2:1. In fraction terms it would mean 2 out of 3. Or in percentage terms 66.6%. blah blah blah

Even though there was a 4-wheeler out on the ice on Alex this weekend, the ice was definitely starting to work it's way out. It's slushy and multi-colored, and there was 10 feet of open water from the shore on the north side yesterday. I give it another week before it's totally gone.

Im thinking of headed up to Sham this weekend, and would really like to try and get out on the ice. Any one been by there lately or out on the ice? Just wondering if i should still make my plans to fish the hard water one last time, or if i should pull out the fly rod again and chase some trout.

I would toss in the towel on ice fishing the for the season unless you head to LOW. Go trout fishing and enjoy the streams because the ice now is starting to fall apart on all lakes around here.

The ice should be pretty dang near out, we did get on the ice last friday, but you needed waders and a paddle boat to make it work! Friday evening we were able to drive the boat all the way over to the bays on the east end of sham following the shore line. The bay on the west end was wide open, and the ice was pulled 50-200 feet from shore if not more in spots.
